I need some new shoes as my old school dx ones now have pretty much no sole left. I've decided to go for freerider elements but am not sure on sizing. In Shimano shoes I'm a 47 (UK12) and a 46(UK11) in normal shoes, obviously I want space for sealskinz in the winter without making my toes go numb, should I go for the 47 or the 46? I'll be buying from somewhere with easy returns but want to get it right first time as everywhere seems to be selling out of them pretty quick!

I'd go for normal shoes. I'm a 7(UK) for normal shoes and an 8 in trainers (Puma, Adidas). I ordered an 8 and have to use an insole.

I would have ordered a 7 or 7.5 but I couldn't find them in stock anywhere.

Go to shop.
Try them on.
Buy the right size.

How hard can that be?

I will try the shop tomorrow but they won't have my size and will take months and lots of reminding to get them in. Cheers for the advice will go with normal shoe size then I think

I'm a size 10 normal shoe/trainer and went for size 10 freerider elements and they fit perfectly.

I say 11.5 for thick socks
I have 47 wide Shimano shoes and my CampFour are 11.5. My office shoes are 11

I would've gone for 11.5s but can't find them anywhere, they seem to do all half sizes except 11.5

both pairs of five tens converted from a size 8 to 42 no problems.

I'm a 10 in normal shoes, and i found my Freeriders to be a little on the narrow side. Length was fine, but very snug on the width. They hurt like hell for a few rides until they softened up a bit.
So if you've wide feet, them maybe half size over.

They were too narrow so I sent them back, looking for somewhere with a 12 in stock I came across some Teva links for £25 less from Wiggle, reviews seem to say they're a better built, more comfy shoe but with less grip. Coming from some dx shoes with the soles practically all rippeed off I'm sure they'll be enough of an improvement for me!

Was also a bit disappointed by the look of the freeriders, thought they were going to look good but they look like the kind of shoe you wear over the top of a plaster cast!
