I know this has been covered numerous times and I have read/watched various posts/videos on the matter but struggling so looking for some advice.
I am going to fit a Reverb 1X to my bike tomorrow, internally routed all the way through the frame and up the seat tube. I tried an old Reverb hose on the frame and the part which connects to the bottom of the seat post is too big for the hose routing so I presume I need to remove the lever rather than the seat post but how do I go about routing it through the frame that way and will it need bleeding if the hose is removed?
I could explain - but SRAM do excellent videos on youtube that take you through it and you're much, much better off wathchign those than listening to me. The Reverb comes with a little hose joiner that makes the routing pretty simple - the one thing you'll need is a length of old Reverb hose - and you've got one of those, so all good.
I was trying to fit the Reverb earlier and figured out the method of doing it, I am planning on running some old hose through the frame and out the seat tube then connect the lever end of the Reverb to the old hose using the red barb and pull it through so the lever end is then loose at the bars ready to be assembled however the old hose I had turned out to be an old gear cable so the red barb wont thread in to it.
is there another alternative, seems a waste paying £15+ for a brand new brake hose when I only need it to be pushed through the frame once!
I used a gear outer the other day, replacing a reverb with a cable operated post, the red barb took a bit more turning in but it worked. I enlarged the hole in it with a small Phillips screwdriver to make it easier to start.
Also worth noting that the barb has opposing threads so when u turn it, it will thread into both hoses at the same time! Which means u may be turning it the wrong way if u can't get it started.
Thanks guys I will try again tomorrow.
Does the Reverb 1X remote just screw off like the old triggers used to or is there a technique to it?
Quick bump on this to see if anyone can advise on the above before I start.
Yeah it screws off same as old style
I have one of the barbs, which a kindly forumite posted to me, could pass it on if you don't have one.
Will leave the brake cable attached if prepared to pay a bit of postage 😉
Not seen one but I'd be surprised if they were any different to the old one. Just try unwinding it by hand off the hose anti clockwise, should unscrew leaving a barb (hose insert) sticking out of the remote. Then just screw it back on.
Yeah, that definitely unscrews from the hose. Just did mine a few weeks back.
Oh, I see you have a connectamajig... you don't need brake hose, you can use cable.
Thanks everyone, got the old outer cable routed with barb in the end ready to go but I can’t get the lever off?
Tried turning it anti-clockwise and nothing, even tried holding the hose lightly with some pliers to get a proper grip but started marking the hose so left it.
Is there something I am missing here?
The old Reverb levers used to screw off easily.
I haven't installed a new one myself but doesn't it have a rubber cover you maybe have to pull off before you unwind it off the barb?
It does have a rubber cover over the speed and bleed port, I dont think it actually comes off but will check shortly.
Can you post a pic?
Should unscrew, according to this video (4m14s in):
; probably much easier if you remove the boot and slide it further down the hose first.
Not sure if I am missing something here but it wont come off, I have even removed the rubber cover.
Here is a pic, the marks are just on the outer casing which needs cutting down anyway but I wont be using anything to grip them again incase I tear through it!

Should just unscrew by the look of it..
Cut down, then use some pliers on the leftover.
Fitted one of these a few days ago. Lever just unscrewed from the hose easy enough.
You could try unscrewing the barb from the lever first though if you're having trouble.
Might be easier to see what's happening that way.
