Do you keep a first aid kit in your packs when you're riding? If so, what's in it? I've just got a handy Ortleib kit but wondering if I should add anything to it (within reason - an ER nurse wouldn't fit).

so that contains:

1 roll sticking plaster, 25mm wide
2 fleece compresses, 10 x 10cm
1 elastic bandage, 60cm x 40mm with 2 clamps
1 gauze bandage, 60cm x 40mm
1 pressure bandage, 80cm x 100mm
12 plaster, 70 x 20m

I carry on top of that:

steri strips
scissors
polythene inspection gloves
plaster spray (good for grazes)
cheap PAYG mobile with credit

that will cover most things

Clean hankie, duct tape. The rest is superfluous.

Knowledge cricky - knowledge 🙂

Have a search this has been covered on here a few times.

The crucial point is that there is a very limited set of injuries where having a kit makes a significant difference. Major injuries - call the pros, minor ones - carry on. Occasionally you might be able to make the difference between carrying on and not or make things more comfortable

Roll of tape
Couple of sealed sterile gauze patches
Water
Service revolver if it's serious
