Nice. I built one up in the same colour and similar spec for my gf. I had serious bike envy when I handed it over.

That stem setup looks pretty ropey, as does that chainstay protector.

setting it up on tarmac got fatter tyres to go on .
will loose that stem spacer once the front end is bedded in.

Nice...but with a layback post and long stem, is the frame size right or are you one of those freakishly long torso'd people?

If you want a cotic chainstay protector i have one spare?

I think the comment was regarding its length.

Yeah, agree the stem looks a little long for a Soul. Always ran mine with an inline post and I think 70mm of stem. But it's still lovely and as you say, just built. Lucky chap!

Looks like skinny bars so needs a longer stem.

When I first built mine up it had a 90mm stem AND a layback Thomson pin.... Oh the embarrassment.

Funnily enough people thought my frame was too small too despite never having seen me on it. Crystal balls, or maybe just balls.

I built up a medium Solaris for my mate with a slammed 55mm stem looked spot on. Gave him a bastard sore back so he ended up with spacers and a 90mm stem.... Abosultely crazy he must be mad etc. (and he's a couple inched shorter than me).

OP it's your bike, if that's what works **** em!

The soul is a classic British hardtail and it's perfectly designed for this little island.

Enjoy it ( and get a shorter stem plus wider bars at some point - it'll make total sense)

may well go for a shorter stem .but 650 mm bars are as wide as i want to go. the road is always going to be my main priority. and going from wider bars to my 420 road bars would be alien to me.

no mate .do most of my training on the road on my own .
thought i'd give something new a go .as iv'e not ridden off road on a mountain bike( apart from cyclo cross ) from before full sussers and suspension forks.
sorry if it's not set up full on mtb .but will do what i do with all my bikes adjust to suit. 🙄

If you have the legs, consider 1x10 with a narrow/wide ring and lose all the weight and gubbins associated with the LH shifter. Much lighter and simpler.

no, but considered 2x9 36x26 not conserned about getting it super light happy with its 25 lb .as i like climbing and getting a head of speed up on the flatter sections .and having been a time trialist for 18 years can't spin like you younger mountain bikers.
