So I had a bit of a go at a midweek adventure with the club last summer. This inspired me to get some better bike packing/bivvy kit rather than the very cheap stuff/bin bags for dry bags I had last time.
I've since managed a couple of bothy nights, but finally after I don't know how many "maybe I'll do it tonight oh I've got x y and z to do instead :(" moments, I made it out last night.
Didn't hit the camping spot until about 10pm, after a bit of a long day at work and grabbing some dinner at home, but sussed out my tarp/wheel shelter OK in the fading light, and sat for a bit sipping from my hip flask.
Woken by the dawn chorus of just about every bird I could think of and the sun rising, far more pleasant than the alarm, and in work after a bit of mountain biking through a fairly unfamiliar early morning environment about half an hour earlier than I ever manage.
Now sitting at my desk feeling a bit smug, and to be honest a bit tired after being woken so early, but what a night. Definitely keeping all the kit ready and waiting for the next opportunity! Maybe next time somebody else will join me, but solo was great! ๐
Nice one! Quick mid-week bivvies are great ๐ Definitely a feeling of getting something from (almost) nothing.
