Off for a cheeky weekend in Finale Ligure before winter arrives. Never been before, anyone got any trail advice to offer? Looking for singletrack, happy to climb, will probably be on hardtails, but gnarly is good (full-time guide in the Alps!).
Cheers!
Had a fourth visit to Alassio last month, 20 miles west. Super rocky Singletrack all the way. Steep and tech stuff. The uplift day in Finale was like a day off when we did it.
Hard tails, liking climbing?
Up to the nato base, go through it then pick any small trail that heads down...
Stevo - drop me an email (email in profile), got gpx and maps from Superenduro and EWS rounds there including gems like the Dolmen, Madonna del Guardia, Caprazoppa and of course DH Men.
It's hard going but bloody amazing riding out there ๐
Enjoy!
another recommendation for heading up to the Nato base (try and get one of the shops to give you a lift up there, as its probably a 2 hr climb). Generally, but not exclusively, the trails closer to town are rock techy and the trails around Nato base are a mix, and bloody brilliant!
Remember that most of the trails are closed on Sunday and wednesday because of the cinghale (boar) hunting. Please dont ignore this as there is huge conflict in Finale at the moment.
I will be riding in Nava on Sunday, which is about an hour away, give me a shout if u want to join us...
Thanks for the advice everyone! We had a great weekend. Rode straight from Finale on Saturday and did some of the Superenduro trails. Thanks a lot for the offer Nasher, my Mrs wasn't keen on the drive to come meet up with you guys.
On Sunday we got some uplift from one of the bike shops and did a load of trails around the Nato base. Got lumped-in with a beginner (I suspect as a result of our XC lids and hardtails despite our protestations of actually being not bad at mountain biking...) ๐ Suited me just fine, I was on holiday and just up for a chilled-out time. Trying to follow the wheel of the guide on his big bike on my BFe was entertaining...!
Great trails, definitely be back. Probably bring the big bike next time though! Got home to deep snow in the Alps, so probably our last proper riding for a while.
My other half on Superenduro SP1 just above Finalborgo:

Stevo and Iona, the ultimate "xc" ringers! ๐
Should have turned up in lycra to lull the guides into an even falser sense of security.......
Great shot there! Glad you enjoyed it! That Dolmen trail is on my all time top trails list. Ridiculously good riding out there ๐
