Anyone been there in the Dec/Jan time? How the trails condition and is it still worth going at that time? Thanks
Haven't been at that time but have been several times and follow a bunch of folk down there on Instagram. Would fully expect it to be wet and muddy at that time job based on what I've seen in pics and I believe there's an unwritten rule locally that they won't ride the trails in those conditions.
I spent two months there, January and Feb. Was 15°C at the start of Jan. Sunning myself at Cafe Din.
At the end of Feb Cafe Din was under 60cm of snow.
Great time to go. Pretty much only locals. Quite a few German speakers (those not into snow sports, I guess) and shuttles still run.
Would recommend.

You can still ride up under your own steam. Just an agreement not to shuttle when it's pissing it down so as to reduce the number of riders on the trails.
I've only been May/June but I've seen signs advising of snow chains and suchlike so I'm guessing it's not all tropical and lovely all the time, bit like what Alpin said
Thanks guys.

That's so useful to know, and just need to avoid the worst/snowy period when going.
It can snow in the winter. First snow of this winter was two weeks ago. Shuttles were running last weekend, and it was a wonderful combination of frozen, icy, and dusty. Now most of the snow is melted. Trails on north facing slopes, like the climb toward Monte Carmo, will take longer to clear.
Shuttles don't run when weather is bad or when trails should be avoided. There will almost always be riding to do at low altitude, but you will need a private shuttle or some pedalling to access it. There are some steep rocky trails that I would avoid when very wet, but otherwise I think it's a good option, and I can understand why it is popular.
Oh, and there was snow in March last winter too.
