^ arrg at the queueing pic!

Managed to get a reasonably good start with only about 50 or so folk in front of me on the first climb. (obviously all lycra clad whippets on carbon 29ers in my head)

No queues all the way round, only thing holding me back was errr, me!

results up?

Just downloaded my GPS route, what distances did people log on the 30k route?

I know its not exactly 30k. 🙂

Good atmosphere as there was last year and good friendly banter between riders along the way. There's certain things that need to be sorted though, the start for example is still abit of a joke. I started about 60% through the field in the rear half but they need to seperate the 60km and 30km groups, preferably letting the 60km riders go 5-10mins before the 30km. Sooooo many 'have a go heroes' jump to the front and yet end up blowing up about 1km up the first climb backing everything up. I spent the first 45mins riding pretty hard to work my way through a couple of 100 riders who were grannying along or pushing.

Also 3 days since the event and still no results is slightly disappointing imo, pretty much all other events I've done in the past ensure they have results within 2 days.

And the one result we do know - congrats to Matt Page on a stunning fastest time, 3hrs 20mins really is awesome work on a course like that. 🙂

Carlos, did you throw the second blanket to me? Me and my GF spent about half an hour waiting with Martin until the medics arrived.

Yeah, not sure if it was any use as it'd been in the bag a while and all rolled up.

Two of us waited up near the feed station for nearly half hr for our third rider, thought he'd come a cropper on the section too, when he arrived it was because his tubeless setup was leaking, so we chucked in a couple of tubes, apparently he'd bought one off another rider as he only carries 1x spare.

Don't you mean you let your GF beat you by 5 mins?

I emailed them about the results, they said they would be emailed out later in the week.

Perhaps the only thing I would like to see improved is a staggered start. Not that I was held up, Im not that fast, but I can imagine it being a pisser for those who did want to race round. Or finding they were stalled by riders not as fit.

I did feel a little let down by the que at that one technical decent early on. Perhaps they should open up the shortcut to the right - thereby allowing those who want to race it to do so down the short cut, and leaving the techy decent option for those who just want a fun ride.

But basically I did think it was great (now Ive finished)

It was very good event and i will be back to do it next year. Two things let the day down for me......1. My complete lack of fitness (i only got a ticket the week before and done no training) and 2. My chain turned to paper halfway through and snapped twice and screwed my gears.

The route was top notch even thought he climbing was demoralising 😀

I thought most of the climbs were o.k. to be honest. Other than the obviously unrideable bits.
Didn't struggle climbing on my SS, which was a big relief as I've always ridden Enduros geared in the past and was a bit nervous before the start!
Seemed to keep yo-yoing with the same geared and suspended riders. I'd ride away on the fireroad climbs and they'd catch me on the descents. 🙄

@Mounty_73

I did the 30km one and logged total distance including back to the car park as 39.6km!

There's a Strava segment of the 30km route that comes out at 36.9km.
