I have a pair of 83mm Atlas FR cranks. The one thing I don't like is my heel catches on the ridges running along the arms.

Ideally i'd just swap them for Saints, but off to France on Friday so don't have much time.. so I was wondering could I fill the void between the ridges with something that would stay in place for a few weeks? Currently trying wood filler and gaffa tape as an experiment, but any better soloutions?
Helicopter tape? Heat it with a hair dryer/heat gun and mould it around the sides, should cover the 'gap' nicely, won't add any weight and will stop your cranks getting scuffed.
sugru? Bath sealant?
Car body filler?
Car body filler- removable?
So you don't feel it when the leading edge of the crank clips your heel, but you do feel it (and can identify it as such) when the trailing ridge catches it?
Maybe your shoe heel could do with a bit of trimming instead.
Alternatively, a bit of narrow, roadie inner tube pushed up the crank arm.
This is a beautifully silly problem. ๐
How about expanded polystyrene under a layer of gaffer tape?
Never had an issue with heel rub on Shimano cranks- these are annoying as its DH I ride and it puts me off..
Maybe the cranks just stick out more than Shimano. Again I can't see how you can tell which bit of the crank is rubbing. And I don't think it's the void that you're feeling.
Its not a rub- its an obvious catch. My heel clips something (not all the time, just when the foot gets placed back on in a rush)
fill with butter then your foot will slip past, whilst you are waiting be the envy of your fellow riders with freshly buttered toast. win win situation
Wood filler and innertube is doing the job for now! May visit Halfords/B+Q for a more suitable filler mind!
black silicon sealant (do they do it in black?!) would work best, as you could level it off easily and scrape it off and it wouldn't do any damage. ish.
There's a frame filler expanding foam that MX riders use to stop frame voids filling up with mud, that any good?
APF
Is that not moto-foam? Same stuff Sam Hill uses. If so, no its too soft I reckon.
I'll keep an eye out for you then. Easy to spot!!!
Heat shrink would be ideal, if you can find a tube long/wide enough. Slide over the crank arm, heat gently and your done. To remove, just run a stanley down the void to slit it open.
