Not enough space in my front triangle for my frame bag and my water bottle, only need 10mm or so.
Any reason not to run the fidlock mount upside down?

Nope. Works fine that way.

I mean 180 degrees rotation on the down tube not on the underside of the top tube

If it hangs on under a tube it'll be fine on top of a tube which ever way you put it.
You'll need to turn the base round though.

🤦

What I'm asking is if the base stays on an up part of a tube and I rotate it so the top and bottom swap places - spin it top to bottom will it require a change of the mount on the bottle?

The answer is up there. ^^
Mount and bottle can only fit together one way.
Spin the mount 180 and the bottle will only mount upside down.

You can remove the mechanism on the bottle and flip it round same with the mount as it's offset I think

A friend did this to gain some space on a tight frame.
