A long time ago I attempted to get my other half on a mountain bike, she complained for days after about how sore she was. She's has come round to the idea of getting on a bike again on the deal that I sort her out a better saddle. Any ladies out there recommend a fairly cheap and cheerful saddle which may give her a more comfortable ride?
Thanks
Best bet is to find a Specialized store and get measured. It does help.
However, going off on a great big ride is going to hurt if you're not used to riding much, whatever the saddle. It does get better over time as the right muscles are developed in the right places...

The better half uses a female specific Specialized BG. They do a variety of sizes. If you nip into a Specialized dealership they'll advise you on the best one for her.
Not really cheap and cheerful maybe, at £50+. But if you're going to spend money on any part of a bike, a saddle is pretty important.
Like most guys, it's a lot of trial and error!
My Mrs has been through a few different ones but has settled on a Selle Italia Lady Gel Flow. The other one she liked was the WTB Deva SLT.
She should probably go & get her arse measured at the local Specialized shop to give you a half decent starting point.
Best tip I've been given on getting comfortable on a saddle is to periodically stand up on the pedals.
As above riding for the first time is always going to give you a sore bum. Eventually you get fit/used to it.
Charge spoon or equivalent ladies version both work well for my other half. Remember to experiment a lot with saddle angle - women's bits are far more prone to friction if the front is even the tiniest bit too high... so my wife tells me.
WTB has info on their a try it before you buy it here.
Redwoods likes her Specialized BG. She wasn't too keen on getting measured but now realises it's worth it.
Good shorts are the other half of the equation.
