Ok guys two things really....

1) what do you think of the Felt Redemption 2 (2009) half price at £1k? I have only seen one in the flesh once and liked the look and the feel of it (quick carpark ride).

Any opinions? The main spec looks good to me, I'm looking to freeride/local DH it. I'm coming from a Rotec RL9, patriot, kona bass and a orange subzero.

Just after something at a good price that will ride well for a bit of everything.

I could always get some slacker headset cups if I wanted.

So, go for it or what else is out there for £1k max with good finance? (need finance as then I can keep my mx bike!)

2) what size? The felt is a 15.5 or a 17.5. I love small frames (my 15'' 222 was sick). I would rather get a smaller frame but don't want a frame that's too short.

So any ideas?

Cheers!

They're nice bits of kit, very well put together-needle roller bearings in the equilink etc.
The only real downside I cam across on the one I had was how steep the head angle is for the type of bike, but very quickly got used to it.
Took some setting up, rode badly first time out, then spent some time setting it up (& changing the bars to something of a reasonable shape!)
which transformed it.
Climbed well for a heavy bike too.
For reference, I'm 5'8 & rode a 17.5, which was ok for general riding about, think the 15 would have been too short for me as I do like quite a long reach.

Got a Redemption 1 and happy with it, as usual swapped bars and stem etc, quite a fun bike and seems to be good for everything.
Head angle is a bit steep but you don't really notice, thinking of getting an Angleset when they eventually come out.
Overall a good bike, nice and chunky and the Equilink seems to do what it's supposed to.

Thanks for that mate. I am 6ft so should probably go with the 17.5 then. I would like the height of the 15 but the length of the 17!! Nevermind.

I was planning to change the bars right away anyway and may get some 1degree slacker headset cups for it.

Would it be a good bike for downhill/freeride type riding do you think?

Thanks

Standover is almost exactly the same for the small and the medium, think 1mm or something.

Ahh brilliant. Definitely going to go for one. I will change the bars, pedals and add a single front ring with chain device straight away. Will see about the rest after a ride or two!

Thanks for the info.
