Last night went for a quick blast after work to destress. On the ride towards home I usually take a nice little steep slope following the edge of a pond, done it for years. However, last night as I dropped in to follow the path around the pond a family of ducks got scared and ran in front of me whilst heading for the pond. Desperately trying to stop the bike I managed to fatally wound a duckling. Once stopped, the mother duck returned, tried to help its child, realised it couldn't do anything and promply killed it! I feel awful and hate myself for killing a defenseless creature.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

How did the duck kill the duckling?
Very quackly.
the mother tried flipping the duckling onto its feet, but I had winged it. It then pecked away until it no longer moved. Not very nice....
Anyone else now in the mood for some crispy duck pancakes?
