[Closed] Feeling a bit thick - bottom bracket spacer/terminology question

I've just built up an InBred frame with a Truvativ Stylo crank/GXP BB, and with the cranks screwed up tight there's still a little play between the outboard bearing face and crank arm where there should be a tight seal (in old money that would be axle too long, I guess), so I need a spacer between BB shell and bearing cup to push the cup out about 1mm. I just need a plain ring of the right diameter/thickness (I'm guessing the right words are just 'bottom bracket spacer'?), but annoyingly I can't get to the LBS at the weekend where I could explain myself; anyone know if this is what I'd need? Or this?

Thanks for your help!

Assuming you've fitted it right and are sure about your "1mm" play then your second link should do the trick. However, I note that the GXP instructions say that if you've got play you should disassemble, add more grease to spindle and splines and refit. And then repeat until play is eliminated, and that multiple refitting might be necessary to get rid of play:

How many spacers have you fitted? There should only be 2 for an 68mm shell. The GXP system relies on you tightening the bolt up a lot, as jonathon says try removing it, re-greasing and tighten again. This will pinch the non-driveside bearing between the step in the axle and the crank arm. I think this may possible leave a gap between the seal and the crank arm on the driveside but this is ok. There is no need to pre-load the bearings like on HTII.

I used to have some pics showing this as I had a similar problem the first time I fitted a GXP but I can't find them at the moment.

Hmm, I see, thanks for that link - I guess 'relies on you tightening the bolt up a lot' may mean 'relies on you tightening the bolt up a lot'!
Two spacers fitted (as with my other GXP BBs), so needing another did feel wrong. I'll disassemble and regrease and try again. And again.
Thanks both,
