Are fat tyres more prone to punctures due to larger surface area? What is the best form of prevention?
Has anyone made a mousse for MTBs or fat bikes?
Got a thorn puncture on Saturday through my Nate tyre.
But not really that bad given the mileage I've ridden it, possibly the very low pressures keep the puncturers at bay.
The tyres came off so easy I was able to patch the hole with the tube and tyre still on one side of the rim.
I've only had one other puncture while on my Nate's (maybe they are slightly thinner) but the Fat Larry's and BFL's have avoided such problems (so far)
No problems here. The few punctures I have had are easily mended like a normal bike. I am however waiting arrival of some new surly tubes with removalable value cores, I can then fill then up with slime. hence punctures should be a think of the past (I hope)
The Stans goop is working for me so far. I've had half a dozen thorns this year & the Stans has sealed the lot. Once I get home I inspect the tyres & fix the punctures in the ususal way. That Stans stuff has been such a revelation I've put it in all the bikes ๐ก But yes, I do seem to be picking up more punctures than I do on my other bikes.

Davesport - Are you using Stans in the inner tubes or have you managed to run them ghetto tubless?
Nope, still using inner tubes. 8)

Cheers, may give it a go
I put stans in my inner tube too, it's working so far
How much in each tube please?
Never had a puncture on my fatbike.
Have put 2 of those red measuring things in mine
