I'm working on a half fat bike project at the moment, Fat tyre up front.

Any of you fat tyre owner know what the minimum size rim I could use a Larry tyre on, I.e will it work on a 47mm trials rim???

Cheers

Yes, obviously you don't get the full effect but it will work.

What's the point in the massive front tyre if you can't get any grip in soft/sandy stuff at the rear?

The fat front tyre is used in the snow ... it compacts the snow down slightly and gives the rear something to run on. Fat front also allows you to steer the thing in the snow.

I run one on a 50mm rim, won't in quite as low but the narrower profile is needed for SC32s.

I didn't like super low pressures anyway, too squirmy
