I'd love to, haven't got any money but there's a space in the garage for a Pug Ops should I find a grand down the back of the sofa.

Fatbike Hype!! Where??

Haven't really seen any hype, unless Specialized selling one counts as such.

Had a shot on one a few years ago and given more space for bikes I would probably get one.

I love it.. Does everything I want it to do.

It's like the bastard love child of a space hopper, & a BMX.

Far more fun than it should be.

I've had a 9:ZERO:7 for almost two years. It gets used a lot more on trails than anywhere else.

Best description ever "It's like the bastard love child of a space hopper, & a BMX."

Had one for a couple years now, they are different but in a good way. You won't win many races on them but you will smile a lot.

That 9:Zero:7 looks much nicer with straight top tube. Unlike the bendy kiddy sized one.

The only reason I'm back on my Tallboy LT at the mo is that the fatty's broken ๐Ÿ™

It's great on the trails and at the mo my preferred bike.

At first it was a lot different to the stock On One forks but after a few rides I got used to them.

The carbon forks would catch me out sometimes with a bit of oversteer but I soon got to grips.

I bought them because I fancied an upgrade but it was an expensive one that I'm not sure I'd do again. I think they do look better though.

rickmeister, you do realise that article is a piss-take? e.g in the XC "As promised, Beastley stomped an international field of competitors in every category"

epicyclo, I take it you stay somewhere with a proper winter?

I hope you realise that Manuel Beastley is so awesome that the UCI has forced him to take performance inhibiting drugs and also declared he has only to turn up at a race to be awarded the win. He only does the laps so the other competitors can pick up a few pointers on how to ride with style.

Yup, live on a latitude that lies between that of Juneau Alaska and that of Moscow. ๐Ÿ™‚

Its not just hype they are fun.

I bought an On One Fatty at the start of the year and loved it to bits, and then along came a Moonlander and now a Krampus. Its a very different type of ride you get from them, totally big kid giggling, but dont think that they smooth trails out a make riding easy by any means, yes they are specifically for soft ground conditions but the steeper head angle and short chainstays on the Fatty make it a hoot on any trail centre terrain that isnt rocky to the degree where our getting bounced around everywhere by the uncontrolled tyre damping (like GT red/blue)

The moonlander is an absolute barrel of laughs, fitted with 4.7 Bud and Lou tyres its a monster, and leaves a smile on your face for so long after a ride people will think your mad.

The Krampus, as you know is a different beast, but a true surly beast nonetheless, very fun on 'trails', I did a 50 odd km ride on mine yesterday, lots of different terrain, from off piste singletrack to fireroads, mud, bogs, swampy rock fest a boggy rockfests, the krampus lapped it all up and left a big smile on my face which is still there now as my legs ache like hell

Don't be sceptical but dont jump on the bandwagon straight away, try one first, fat biking on the beach is still mtbing but its a special way and place to ride, or try a Krampus on some natural trails, horses for courses, not just a fat tyred bike for everything.

It's Lake Minne****a near Banff Alberta, you can ride the shoreline spring and autumn, it's a fantastic single track undulating trail

It's out of bounds in the summer due to bears and such

So I can save myself some money by just switching off my rebound damping to get the same effect?

I have one (907), although I do live in Alaska so we get a fair amount of snow. I bought a set of the on one 29er wheels and put slick tyres on it to use as a commuter for work. It's nice as I can run full guards so I don't get so wet. Can't comment on its trail worthiness on dirt trails but on snow it's great. It's also nice to switch to the road bike after riding the skinny fat as there is about 10lbs in bike weight difference.
