Hi all,

I have been thinking about fat bike forks for ages and I'm finally going to take the plunge. I was looking at the Manitou mastodon in pro flavour as I have a mattoc on the other bike and love it. Whilst looking around the Wren fork has popped up and aside from looking really cool, reviews and opinions are few and far between so hoping for some input.

Has any one got any opinions on these forks? Ideally is there anyone who has ridden both and would like to share their opinion?

Cheers,

John

If you run 4" tyres on 65mm rims then Fox 34 650B+ forks work and well worth consideration. I've fitted them to my Bucksaw and the improvement over Bluto's is huge. Failing that I'd go down the Mastodon route (purely because their damping tech is better, imo).

I've not ridden either but have seen mention of the Mastodon needing a tall crown race when used with some frames as the width of the crown means you could end up with crown DT interference.

Wwaswas, I have heard of some people having success with those but I already have some dtswiss BR2250 wheels with 80mm rims and don't really want to be forking out (wayyyy) for a new rim as well. I run JJ4.0s but do have a set ov Vee Snowshoe XLs for occasional use that would need to fit.

letmetalktomark, I have heard that as well. I can always bung a larger headset lower cup on if needs be though. (hopefully)

fair do's - you need to switch to a 110 boost hub too so it's not an straight swap.
