got a garmin etrex 30 off a mate. it is ideal for whati want, to just follow a gpx file.
anyway i did a factory reset. But i did not realise it had as sd card installed ( i am shyte with tech ).
my question is, will i have wiped the sd card doing the reset ?
The factory reset should only have wiped the internal memory. Maps on the SD card should be unaffected.

I don't remember a problem with mine.
You might find that your mate has some routes stored on the card as well as maps. There are several free mapping options if the worst has happened.
The 30 is a great GPS and lasts for days on a set of rechargeable NiMH batteries, I avoid alkalines because of the risk of leaks. Any queries just ask
