Something of a PSA for you all. If you have some nice Easton carbon bars (rrp £99:00) DON'T put Bike Hut grips on them because when you come to take them off, the metal sleeve stays half in and half out and then digs ever deeper into them as you (with tears welling up in your eyes) try to ever so gently slide them off while whispering a prayer to a God you've not previously believed in and has then shoved your new found faith back in your face.
What do you reckon my chances of claiming on the house insurance are?
This after Royal Fail did a mammoth job of losing my other recently purchased set of carbon risers in the post (although the kind gent very graciously refunded me).
Looks like Daffy is going to get them for free if he wants them and can take a chance or bin them as he sees fit.
Oh well........Sh1t happens.........
Pst; Clive, I tried to reply to you but it bounced back. If Martin turns them down, you can have them instead.
The moral of the tale is don't put shitty grips on expensive bars then? 😉
Surely the excess and resulting increase in insurance would make it cheaper to just buy new grips?
today i learned that over tightening lockons is bad.
soobalias, if you need some replacement bolts for Odi lock ons, give me a shout. I have some brand new going unused.
The insurance claim would be for new £100 Easton carbon bars. I'm going to use road bar tape on my next set. Ah well, The Ladies(tm) had a bit of a giggle about it. Little 'un hasn't seen her dad cry before 🙂
