Do we have any consensus on what to go for? Currently running an FSA one that came with the crankset. I am 99% sure its shimano compatible. I can see them from £15 to £++++++++

Its just beginning to be a bit rumbley so will fail completely sometime soon. Is it worth trying to replace just the bearings or a waste of time? Are the hope stainless worth 6 deore?

Its lasted well - the FSA crank design means you cannot put too much side load on the BB.

thoughts chaps? I just got very confused looking at the range available online. Help a confused old man out
Ta

CRC were punting out XT ones for under £12 earlier this week.

FSA officially made two different 24mm BB's a fraction of a mm different to each other, I guess it's a bit like SRAM's 28.99mm (except FSA actually made a 24 and 23.99mm or whatever), from everything I've read (everywhere except FSA) though they're pretty interchangeable.

Shimano won't work properly as shimano rely on some pre-load on the angular contact bearings. But any shimano compatible aftermarket BB should work.

I had issues with my gusset GXP BB but the shimano version came recommended (and the issues were GXP related, not bearing). The Hope one is nice, and I've never had any problems with mine.

Are you sure Shimano BBs won't work?
I've run them with both Shimano (obviously!) and RaceFace cranks, and never had any issues.

CRC are still selling the new style XT BBs for £12 - proper bargain - in fact I just ordered a couple more for the spares box.
I've had one fitted to my DMR for a year now and I just checked it during a full bike overhaul last week. It's as smooth as when it was fitted.

I have a Rotor one that seems to be pretty good so far.

Uberbike have been good in my experience. Hope SS in my Fargo now on about 20k km though. Top VFM.

I'm finding my Hope stainless pretty much indestructible. It's a good 8 years old now and has been on several bikes. Still spins smoothly. You can pop the seals and re-grease every now and then fairly easily.

I've killed Deore in a single Peak District ride!

At £12 for XT it seems rude not to try it. I get the point about angular contact bearings but in practice does it make any difference?
