So, I have convinced myself that I need a Joystick for my helmet, to replace the chinese eBay special I currently use.

I have been looking for the best bargain, and it seems that the mark11 has been discounted, since the mark12 hit the shops... Any noticeable real world difference between the two?

And where would I find the best deal?

I came to the same conclusion. I ended up getting a 2nd hand one from ebay for £80. But £86 was the best I could find.

check the lumins as they can vary a lot between models and this may be the reason for a lower price. Older ones tend to be weaker.

I wantbto hit bit on an exposure light at the minute as well. Are we talking off road lights? Was looking at a Diablo but would a joystick be enough with a handle bar light as well?

I sold an 11 and bought a 12 the other week. The 12 is a bit brighter for same burn time, 1000 lumens vs 850 on high. It also has a slight changed back plate, the button is firmer and actually IMO less easy to operate with gloves.

Joystick on lid goes very well with a decent bar light - I have a MaxxD for that.

I have the mk11 and don't see any need to go for the mk12 to gain 150 lumen, so if they have the mk11 on offer then go for that.

I use it on my bars for commuting at this time of year as a be seen light early morning and if its raining on the way home.

Use it helmet mounted in winter with an exposure strada 1200 on the bars. Going cable free lighting is fantastic.

I have a MK9 and still love it.

So MK11 must be good

Same broadly as above, I run a Mk11 Joystick on the bars for commuting, the Joystick goes on the lid with a Sixpack on the bars for off-road shenanigans.

Mk11 is great.

Hmmm... you guys make a good case for the 11.

Has anyone else noticed that on the CRC site, the headline for the mk12 is followed by the text for the mk11?

^^^^ I noticed that and bought one from them and it was a 12.

FWIW I sold a 15 month old Mk 11 for £80 and paid £125 for the new 12, with full set of mounts

If you could get a new 11 for under £100 (Rutland for example) it's probably a better deal than a 12 IMO

Halfords are doing the mk11 for £110 so with BC membership that would be £99, less if you get cashback through quidco and have access to halfords discount vouchers through your employee benefits for example.

Although the mk12 is £127.96, for the extra I'd go for that.

@stevemorg2

Not actually measured the battery life, I use it for my 2 hour commute (normally in low) and it’s never caused a problem (I do the commute about once a week). That said it’s about 6 years old now so can’t be as good as it was. I can throw in a piggyback cell (of similar vintage but much less use) if it’s a concern.

It comes with the original box, charger, instructions and helmet mount.

The only thing is that the LED on the charger seems to blink a bit, where it’s not meant to. This doesn’t seem to cause a problem charging but better that you know.

I've sent a personal mail too. Edd
