[Closed] Exposure Axis or Diablo with Six Pack?

Anyone running a Six Pack with either of the latest versions of these? I have a SP on the way and would like a new helmet light, leaning towards the Axis for longer run time (would like to be able to run it on low for rides up to 3 hrs with occasional high for downhill bits) and hopefully a bit more of a spot than the Diablo but thinking it might be lost in the wall of daylight from the SP.

Can't be doing with that regardless of output, I need a head torch for seeing around corners and depth perception and stuff

I run a diablo with a MaxxD, plenty of light and i just turn the diablo off when i'm climbing as the MaxxD on low is plenty to see by at that speed and has a ridiculous burn time.

I have a Maxx-D and an Axis, the Axis will be lost in the Six Pack's beam but surely you want it for when you are looking where the six pack isn't, around a corner, over a lump, etc. for which I think it's good. But if you are splashing all that cash why not get the Diablo regardless? You can run it at the same power as the Axis with the option to turn it up or not

Good points which mirror what I'm thinking. I guess the only other question is if the Axis has a spottier beam than the diablo and therefore makes a better helmet light?

I use the latest axis with my old six pack (prob 4-5 years old) on our trails and its perfect. On trails I know I find I'm riding at almost full daytime speed according to strava. I was also tempted by the diablo but given I find the weight of the axis noticeable on my head I'm now glad I didn't. Certainly don't feel I need the extra lumens either.

Edit : I think the axis is quite spotty but can't comment on whether it is more or less than a diablo.

How are you getting on with the Trek?

I can't answer that and the current Axis may not be the same as my two or three year old model.

What may be of use is that I think Exposure will be at the QECP Day and Night so if you can get there they may have units you can demo. Maybe get in touch with them

Well I got the Six Pack for a (relative) bargain price but it is coming from Tredz so no guarantee I'll ever get it.... Rutland have the Axis in stock for £112 but cheapest in stock price for the Diablo I can see is £145 so it is a chunk more wedge.

Loving the Trek cheers Steve, should do a little write up on it I guess but it's not like it's an under reviewed bike elsewhere. Need to get up and use your guiding services again now it's slightly drier!

Good to hear, longer really is better at our height.

Happy to guide any time, couple of cracking new trails that have been created as well, just drop me a mail when it works for you. I think I can guarantee it will be drier than last time 😀
