I can't seem to find a way to do this. It would seem to be a fairly fundamental action but I'm baffled. Anyone care to tell me what I'm not seeing? Cheers.

Should find answers with the link above. It depends on the type of operating system you are using as to how you do it.
Thanks. I did look at that and it shows how to export from android but I wanted to export from my PC. You can create, edit and convert tracks to routes but not export a gpx. It does seem that they've missed a trick there.
On android:
Long hold over route > sharing > Export Item to GPX
As of today you can now export GPX and print routes from the Viewranger website...
