Looking for budget carbon 29er forks for very light XC use. The Exotics look fine at about a £100 or there again there's the alu ones at about £80.

Does anyone have any experience of these, good or bad?

Exotic carbon 29er's on one of my bikes...FLEXY!!!!!!...Work well but scarily flexy, thinking of going for some cromoto's.

I think the carbon ones are pretty good, mine weigh bang on the 770g advertised and they do take some trail chatter away.

I've got a spare set somewhere, email in my profile if you're interested.

EDIT: Don't seem too flexy to me...

I have the 26" carbon forks and would happily buy again. They're probably not quite as light as some branded forks (Pro etc.) but they're half the price. I've not ragged them through massive boulder fields, but they've been fine with XC racing - there's a little bit of give to take the sting out of rough surfaces but they will take a little getting used to compared to suspension forks.

Also edit: I haven't noticed any lateral flex, but I have occasionally had a very small amount of flutter under heavy braking - I put this down to a loose QR at the time though.

Clobber, thanks for the offer, normally I'd be straight onto that offer but they are for a present (my son for Christmas) and I think he'd probably prefer new ones!

I think he'd be fine with flexy, as he'd never look at the forks working and it really is light XC. The forks on his bike weigh an absolute ton and I'm after the Exotics as a weight reduction plan, married up with a 2.4 up front.

I have a set on my 29er. Nice and light and never had issues with too much flex. I'd buy them again.
