I'm going with a friend. I'm not looking forward to it though as I am super unfit! We'll definitely be doing the 25 mile route.

My first time as well but deffinetly will be doing the 25 mile route. Still trying to get properly fit after a long time off the bike with small children. Really looking forward to it just hope its not as wet this week as the MET office predict.

I will be happy with a finish considering how unfit I was 3 months ago.

I'll be there - again (it's my 6th year!)

Booked a hotel at the weekend and I'm looking forward to it 😆

Let's just hope it doesn't rain like it did last year! 5 hours of pouring rain is not fun.

Yup will be a completely different ride if the red soil gets claggy. Think I might bring the full range of tyres just in case ...

I've got a place but I'm on Night's and can't get cover, so I might only do the short route.

It'll be my 7 year & I'll be doing the long route as always.

I'm hoping for dry weather too last year was not fun at all 😥

10th year... will try and do long route. 😕
Shreaded rear gear cable casing last year and missed "cut off" time coz they moved it forward due to bad weather forecast.. Better luck this year !!

yup, sunshine and showers by the look of things...

From the fb page for Exmoor Explorer the race numbers and details should go out in the next 24 hours - no map though, it's a surprise...

So what tyres for the red stuff?

Just fitted a BC rubber queen to the front, and an X king on the back, though wondering if I should replace that with something chunkier...

From what I remember, tyres won't make much difference.. This photo is from a sunny Exmoor Explorer a few years ago.

Would be nice to know how much fireroad etc to make best guess for tyres.

..or should i stick to my tried and tested exmoor combo of sticky minion front and swampy rear?

would like to go a bit lighter with tyres tbh, esp if roads/fireroads feature quite a bit.

Comm's have never been a strong point but this year has been better.

I got two emails; one when I signed up in April and a second (in the last few days) with my rider No (123).

No map - this is because they are marking the route with tape/flags etc... I've assumed this is to reduce the number of people doing practice laps in the week before the event 🙄
