Thinking of heading to Porlock/Horner area on Tuesday. Any locals know if its just going to be too muddy after a few days rain? Its a bit of a trek to get there and I dont really fancy it if im just going to be wallowing around in a bog for the day!

It will be wet, very wet, but perfectly rideable. I went after weeks of rain in Feb and apart from nearly getting exposure it was fine!

Alternatively go to the quantocks.

I live about 10 miles away. It's not rained that much (compared to the winter) in the last two days believe it or not. Tomorrow may be a different story!

It's pretty steep around those parts so water runs off quickly. Go for it.

Very rocky up on Dunkery Beacon etc so as said above all rideable just turns into a grinding paste on your brake pads etc and takes ages to get that red mud of your tyres lovely place spent a few days down there in November with my Fattie if you really want to get covered in red mud go down the bridleway to Wotton Courtney from Knowle hill.

As mentioned it drains off well, apart from across the moors on the top. Don't attempt them and try to minimise water crossings as the stepping stones might be under the water.

The Quantocks is still pretty dry at the moment.

I was up there a couple of weeks back and it was lovely and dry. Bit gutted the bad weather has come back but was bound to happen at some point. Reckon ill give it a go as long as there isn't torrential rain forecast all day!
