Suggestions please for a budget B&B / hotel / bunkhouse for a group of 8?
Ideally somewhere near to Porlock and preferably not minehead.
Thanks
There's a bunkhouse near Simonsbath that would probably be the cheapest place.
It is near Minehead but the YHA there is great, amazing breakfast, drying room, bike storage and washing facilities. the guy that runs it will do dinner to if you ask in advance too, reasonable pub a few mins walk away, and trails right on the door step.
I've stayed there a few times with large groups MTBing and would go back
Sorry - really manflued up just now so this is a brain dump of bunkhouses etc
Have a look at - http://www.campbellroom.org.uk/
*middle of nowhere, CRAP parking (poss 4 small cars *sorry a while ago now, owners v helpful though and if you have a powerful telescope you can eat a bacon and egg sandwich on the porch in blazing 7am sunshine whilst viewing Glastonbury Tor).
Try YHA Camping Barns or bunkhouses - http://www.yha.org.uk/staying-yha/our-accomodation-facilities (used Dulverton, walk/bike to pub lots of parking)
also FYI

It is near Minehead but the YHA there is great
I'm thinking of the YHA Bunkhouse at Pinkery which is right next to Simonsbath and NOT Minehead.

Just in the process of booking this for a weekend in May for the club (about 30 people). Haven't been for a couple of years but used twice in the past.
Excellent access out the back of the garden straight onto Exmoor (just don't ride all over the lawn!). Good food (they will do breakfast, dinner and IIRC packed lunch too), plenty of showers, secure bike storage and some bike washing facility, large drying room.
Recommended.
The Campbell Room noted above is Quantocks, not Exmoor - however its a great place to stay on a budget (works out at £10 pppn if there's 12 of you). Its a scout hut with a kitchen, 2 showers and a small cabin. Sleeping is on plastic mattresses on the floor, pretty basic but fine for a lads weekend MTB'ing.
500 yds from the bottom of the hill, and not far from the bottom of Bin Combe which is the best way to end any day biking!
