Hi Tom.

What do you want out of it?

Smart trainer for Zwift etc. Back wheel on/off. Permanently set up or using the bike you’re riding?

There’s a turbo trainer/full bike for all options.

Finally, budget available.

Budget obviously make a huge difference. We had two Watt bikes in the gym at work but the folk that dont cycle complained that they were uncomfortable so they swapped one out for a standard bike with a saddle that belongs on a 1930s tractor and its bloody uncomfortable. Before it was switched out both Watt bikes were used now the Watt bike is used and the other bike is just left there. What I'm trying to say is try what you're looking at before you buy it if it's not a turbo you're after.

Execise bikes are generally shoot, unless it's something like a Watt Bike. Cheaper option could be a SMART Turbo, wheel on type if you want to use with other bikes, or if your budget is bigger, a direct drive type (wheel off).

I bought my SMART Turbo (Tacx T2240) for about £150 for recovery from a broken spine. I just tend to use it in Winter now if the weather is too bad. I've got Zwift too. I much prefer to commute to work, hybrid working, and go out at lunch when at home. I commute along the canal these ays, as road ommuting got my spine broken.

Budget and use is the main factors.
