I've got a standard 135mm QR rear EX1750 and want to convert to 12mm - I already have a 12mm Maxle.
CRC sell this but do I really need the axle, or just the end caps and if so can they be bought separately?
i converted my qr to 10mm and bought the kit but dont use the axle just the endcaps. now im not sure how its meant to go but the shop i asked about fitting it as i was a bit stuck said its not needed. dont hold me to that tho lol
I took one of the QR end caps off last night. The internal diameter of the fitted axle seems to be 12mm but when I tried to get my 12mm maxle through it, only the axle threads went in, the rest of the maxle would not fit.
Don't know now if this is going to work at all. The tech pdf from DT's site shows the same axle part no. for the 240QR, 240x10 and 240x12. Might have to change to 10mm bolt through and ditch the maxle, or use DT's 12mm bolt thru.
Anyone have any experience with 12mm bolt through on the rear DT240 hub?
Yep, I have that kit fitted in my EX1750's. I do not use a maxle though. I use a superstar (55 gram) bolt thru and fits fine.
The axle that comes in the kit is fitted in my hub.
Cheers Dirtynap.
Was that the 12mm kit & Ultralight Hollow Axle for 135mm-12mm Hubs
OK, for anyone searching for the same problem...
DY Swiss say that the 12mm compatible axle was a rolling change on EX1750's so older wheelsets might not have a 12mm compatible axle. Mine was not quite 12mm Internal Diameter.
I did buy the 12mm conversion kit from CRC (2 adapters and an axle) and the replacement axle does accomodate my 12mm Maxle.
