Now, i'm all for spending small amounts on bike bags, but in reality, i'm going away this year, and will be over the winter and next year too.
Just wondering whether the evoc bike bag is actually worth the cash..
Now, my mountain bike isn't the cheapest out there and i'm trying to justify spending £230 on an evoc bag (Approx 7pc of the bikes value). It's not a question on whether i can afford it, just a question whether it's worth spending that much on a bike bag. I'm finding it hard to justify the spend, but if the protection is worth it, then it may be worth spending the dollar on it. (And i'm hopefully going to use it a few times a year).
Anyones thoughts?
I bought one and although I won't be using it till later this year, I have to say it's very, very well built and designed.
I think it's well worth the dosh.
Nothing but good reviews for it if you scan the tinterweb
hmm, cool.
Just found a bike shop that i drive past to go to my mates have them in stock, and at £220!
+1 for evoc bag, used many times without issues. Easy to fit bike in securely. Rolls easy on the wheels and is tough.
you could probably get a bike box for a similar price
Where are you? Some places rent them out. We're very happy with the two we bought although I swapped the plastic stiffeners for ally tube.
Double tap
18 bikes hire one out i think.
We've actually got two to hire out, details on the webshop

I've just got the CRC one, I too my 456 away in it last year without really thinking about the padding or packing, just removed the bars and rear mech, it came off the conveyor looking like a sack of spuds but all was ok inside.
Now I've got the same bag but I've cut up a bike box to fit perfectly inside it so it retains its shape, coubple of extra sheets of corugated card either side for armouring. Not tried it yet but if anything breaks inside that it'll break a fiberglass case too.
I got a CR bag to for GF. It's ok but the plastic rails along the bottom broke first time out. It's ok for a few trips. But if your doing multi trips I would go Evoc. CR bag wouldn't handle my use over a couple of years. Still it's an adequate bag depends how much use you experience t to make of it,
Cool. Just ordered one, so i'll see what it's like when it arrives!
It's just the best bag. So simple to use, all the padding built in. It's really a 5 minute job to pack and unpack your bike.

I love mine! VPP bikes take a little squeezing as the lower link interferes with the block that secures the chainstays, but fits just the same... Plenty of compartments, and the wheels going in separately is a nice touch. Easy to haul around when you have other luggage, and stores reasonably compactly... Highly recommended!
