Does anyone have a recommendation for travel insurance on an EBC trek?
I used Dogtag who offered specialist cover.
Didn't need to claim however so didn't test them to the full.

Are you looking for cheaper or just looking for someone who will cover?
Snowcard and Dogtag have covered me in the past for expeditions. It was a while ago now. M and S cover is good if you don't hit any exclusions. You'd be suprised at what people will cover, sometmes just because you think it is dangerous doesn't mean the insurance company will see it as a risk.
Always use BMC insurance for any mountain trip whether trekking or climbing. Plus with membership you'll get discount in quite a few gear shops which is useful.

BMC is the one that always comes up... it is expensive but as said above you get a membership discount which makes it cheaper if you're buying kit as well...

I'm going in April, and getting really exited about it now. 10pmix blog is fantastic, and I cant wait to experience it all myself too.
Insurance wise, I think my bank will have it covered for a few ££.
What vaccinations do you need if any?
I don't always use BMC for Alps climbing, but have claimed on their policy in the past and it was straightforward, fast and efficient. If I've been on Alps trips where the climbing/walking has been well within my ability, then I've gone for a cheaper option that's frankly been a bit of an unknown and not as comprehensive. I think if I was going to the greater ranges (never have been), even at a lesser technical climbing level, then I'd probably want to stick with my trusted comfort zone option, BMC insurance.

When you're in the arse end of nowhere and unwell, you look up at EBC and think to yourself - thank f I'm not up there with ASDA insurance (or whatever cheaper thing springs to mind).
Dont skimp. We flew back with Yeti (yep!) airlines. They dont even bother scraping the smashed airframes off the pad. We had a swiss guy in a bad way with us flying back. Took up quarter of the craft 'tween him and his carers. I have no idea what it cost but he wasnt too bothered. Kept apologising to us for the inconvenience!
We had bmc at the time. Never claimed though.

BMC and Snowcard are the same policy, both underwritten by Fortis. Premiums are the same too, but last time I checked, you can select your period by day on snowcard, but in larger increments on BMC.
eg you're going for 18 days, on snowcard you pay for 18 days, but on BMC you might have to pay for 17-20 days (ie 20 days).
