Away next week with the family in Cannock - intending to squeeze a few evenings riding when the kids are in bed.
In the past I have done it during the day from Birches Valley Car Park - does that get locked in the evenings? If so anyone recommend the best safe place to park? The other visitors centre?!

Birches valley is open until 2100, not sure if they actually lock up. Otherwise, park on Marquis Drive (bays at the side of the road).

I've been there waiting for them to unlock the Birches Valley gates 1st thing before now so guess they still lock them.
Personally I'd park up by the Marquis Drive café & ride from there. You're right next to the FtD trail and it's a quick blast down the hill if you just want to ride the Monkey.
Ideal cheers guys - will avoid the car park just incase I end up getting locked in!!!
Oh, remember to dodge the doggers.
Best place to park will be up on Marquis drive. Not so many doggers up there and a few more dog walkers to keep an eye on the car so it doesn't get broken in to.
