Why are there so many new canyons on ebay ?
Ive had a saved search set up since august and loads keep appearing (and selling)
At first i thought it was Canyon UK selling returns but they are all over the country
and it cant be a stolen shipment as new models are appearing now
Bikes are COC, sellers have good feedback.
could they be copies? convincing if they are?
or is it just CC fraud? if so why Canyons? are they easy to scam?

People ordering bikes and them taking so long they have bought something else?
Seems dodgy. Do any of the sellers have history of buying and selling bike parts?
Are you HM Revenue & Customs?

Why sell them at a knock down price rather than just cancel the order ?
This came up before.
or is it just CC fraud?
IIRC it was claimed to be this yeah. COC should set alarm bells ringing anyway.
Are you HM Revenue & Customs?
No, but id prefer to know the background of a bike so i don't accidentally contribute the bike theft industry.
Insurance replacements?
Bottom one seems to have fantastic feedback.

CC theft seems to make sense, but why Canyons? are they easy to scam? less checks? surly you could buy anything from CRC ect
as for COC that just says to me that the bike is real and the seller wants to avoid PP fees which is fair enough
and "she" is selling a road bike too ?!?
Insurance replacements?
credible explanation for one but for lots (the links above are only the current ones)?
Canyon must surely have the serial numbers of these bikes. It would be a fairly simple matter to match up the ones that are obtained by fraud. I wonder if they would be interested?

Im sue canyon UK have an eye on ebay and the fact that this is ongoing says to me they are not bothered or cant do anything about it
How does CC fraud work? would the company get to keep the money?
I seem to recall there was a similar thing happening in the South Yorks area and was credit card fraud, if located you'd lose the bike and I assume interviewed etc by police. COC is so they can rob you too if you look like a suitable victim and no electronic trace of the transaction.

I hope that's the case, though i guess most will never be traced

That's worrying!
Never trust a man with a Moneygram pen.
lol well spotted

Seems to be shifting many of the same items. Could be a wholesaler masquerading as private or someone fencing truckloads of stolen stuff.
Sent a message to the seller....
Hi, can you tell me what the history of the bike is please, and do you have any other models?
Response.......
The bikes have been bought on a trade account as test bikes, they have not been used and are the same as new, we have new models arriving soon.
Buying through a trade account, (so a business) and then selling for cash only doesn't seem right. Sounds like a VAT/import duty dodge if nothing else.
Please tell us you're not considering buying one.
Now you know why you have to wait so long to get one, as a Canyon owner I would recommend you buy direct from Canyon as the warranty replacement I've enjoyed has been superb.
I didn't think there were any extra VAT/import taxes from Europe?

If you're a VAT registered business you can opt out of paying VAT on EU imports (instead of paying and then reclaiming). However you still have to charge VAT (and give that 20% to HMRC) when you sell the items.
If you paid duty in EU you don't have to pay it again when it arrives in the UK. Well at least not until after the election when the small minded bigots lead us out of Europe...
VAT/Tax issues aside, Canyon don't so trade do they? It's direct sales to keep costs down and prices keen
Testing to see if they get caught or not?
There was a thread on bikeradar, I've linked to it before, someone bought one, sent canyon the serial number and had been bought with a stolen cc - they returned it and PayPal claimed - probably why they are now CoC
Can't comment on the bikes themselves, but the eBay accounts they are being sold under may be hacked.
I had a similar situation last month, where someone hacked my account and 'sold' a 2 grand metal cutting machine.
