Popped my bike into Bristol Evans on Saturday as I could not find where a creaking was coming from. 2 mins later the bloke came back and said it was sorted 🙂 loose nut ... damn that was embarasing as I had stripped the bike twice! 😳
Anyhow they then kept the bike for the day while I went off to shop round town.
And yet if you believe all youi read on here, they're manned by a bunch of inept monkeys!
nope that's Halfrauds
perhaps I was lucky? the mechanic knew what he was doing and had serviced Ransoms before and knew it like the back of his hand!
I thought holding onto the bike for the day while I shopped was damn good of them! (Yes they probably did thrash it round town while I was away)
All in all I was impressed!
i went into evans chiswick about a year ago
me: hi do you sell stem spacers?
evans monkey: erm???
me: spacers you put under your stem
evans monkey: we sell seat stems
me: (pointing to the spacers on one of their bikes) these things
evans monkey: oh yeah we have those (takes me over to the handlebars)
me: you know what its ok
so i went to halfords down the road they had loads
swings n roundabouts i guess
I guess it really depends
1 - If the staff give a hoot about their job
2 - If they actually ride a bike
luckily the bloke who served me rode, understood my exact bike well; and had even ridden with People from Scott's UK division.... so I guess I was lucky!
Although Kimbers that really is bl00dy funny! I went to Halfrauds once and asked for hose, he went to look for a hoselock garden hose, I said no I want a brake hose and also I need an olive, he said black or green... I walked out
