[Closed] ESI Chunky Foam Grips

Seem to be alot out there saying they are great.

Only negs I have read are slippy if use in the rain with bare hands?

If you have big hands they might be too thin?

I used to use them, great apart from very delicate, so don't be putting the bike upside down.

Just bought another set as getting sore fingers, so see if they help.

Love mine. Very comfy, plenty of grip, light as a feather and stick to the bars without glue. Not tried them without gloves but plenty of grip with.

They are delicate compared to other grips but they do last well if you look after them and don't crash.

I like Bontrager foam grips but tried some ESI's to what all the hype was about.
I personally thought they were pretty nasty IMHO.
less wet grip than the Bontragers, less shock absorption and weigh quite a bit more.

Ive got the race version and they are great.
No issues with slipping despite an awfully wet day at Swinley.

They're good for taking the buz out of a rigid 29erSS..

But tear when in contact with Brambles, or rather "nic" then they look rubbish.

I was going to get some for my new build after reading the hype but asked a mate for his thoughts as I now he had a pair and he said they were rubbish. Slipped around the bars, no grip, slippery when wet (you could call an album that) etc.

Stuck with my Yeti Lock-Ons.

Ok, so as 90% of my riding is in the woods which from March to September is full of holly, probably not a replacement for my ODI's.

Just fancied a treat really.

I find them very different from my lockons, lighter and easier on the hands but don't give that feeling of stability. I used them at last years 24/12 in apocalyptic conditions and the grip was fine - they're still on my rigid hardtail now and are great for local trails. I still prefer the lockons for my FS when out on rockier/more demanding trails.

localhero, you've pretty much mirrored my intended use. I think I'll stick with my ODI on the do-it-all FS, I might try them out on the lightweight HT.

Its 22lbs, soon to be 21.9 😉

I highly rate them.
