My followers will remember I need to repair a cast iron pot holder from a gas hob...I've heard epoxy resin is heat resistant (clearly the main requirement)
Would I need to get something special or would araldite etc work? I'd be looking at drilling/pinning it.
I very much doubt "heat resistant" would be enough
I doubt it too, have you lookinto liquid metal type epoxy's? Pretty sure there is a cast iron flavoured one..
mmm, this one only rates 500deg F

I've used JB Weld on a number of things and it's great - BUT I suspect that the heat involved in this project may well just melt the epoxy...... I have been known to be wrong though. 😳
None of the epoxy flavours are up to this job especially if the repair is going to be in the flame. The best you can hope for is a fabricated repair or risk giving it to a welder who knows how to do cast but bear in mind it will be low quality metal and unlikely to take a weld affectively.
Cheers all.
Think there's a way I can bolt it together (TJ may borrow your taps!)
This aremco stuff sounds like you answer, I doubt its cheap..
