I've been offered a great deal on a 2012 Epic Comp 29er (carbon... fnarr! 😉 from my LBS - but am wondering if it's the right bike for the peaks, or if I'm getting swayed too much by 2012 discounts.
I've just moved to Sheffield, and my bike (2008 (I think!)) Marin Rocky Ridge has recently been stolen. I fancied something certainly no more heavy than that, and wouldn't mind giving a 29er a go, and having hit my 30s, I figured a susser was the way forward for my old bones ;). From what I can tell though, the Epics are "race" bikes, rather than trail bikes.
I'm planning to be out and about year round (gotta keep the weight off somehow, and I'm sure as shit not giving up Sunday Roasts :D) - and rides will vary between evening blasts, and all day trips, certainly no plans to race.
So... any ideas if the Comp is up to the Peaks trails, or if I should be looking at something else? Alternatively, bike suggestions up to £2000 appreciated...
Cheers guys.
