[#6059013]

So, my bike collection consists of one Hardrock Pro that started me off on the trails around Bristol 10 years or so ago, and has sorted me for commuting, day rides, multi day rides (Lon Las Cymru) ever since.

Time for a change, and something that can still handle off road to a point, but is better suited to deal with hours on the road also.

I've decided on a CX, and whilst the Pinnacle Arkose Three seems to get the nod around here, it's a bit more than I want to pay so am thinking either Pinnacle Arkose One 2013 at £600, or Boardman CX Comp 2014 at £600 (£540 with BC membership discount).

Have seen a few decent reviews for the Boardman, but have found it more difficult finding Pinnacle Arkose reviews that aren't about the Three.

Anyone had the same decision to make, or can just offer some advice/2 pence worth please?

Genesis vapour is £599 at winstanelys cycles (40% off). 54 and 56 cm in stock. Very tempted to get one myself, but not sure I can justify it.

I got the Boardman the other week. With a 10% halfords discount, BC discount and quidco, I saved a fair whack on the RRP.
It's a great bike for the money. Have done about 100 mixed miles and it's a good all rounder. With tyres at 65psi it's fast on the road too. It's my favourite bike right now!

dknwhy - Good to hear, would be nice to time it to get a 10% discount on top of the BC one!

cynic-al, anono - thanks, both look like excellent options to consider. Will have to see whether any of the bike shops in Bristol have these in.

Another option from EBC... Great spec for the price if you're not bothered about discs http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/revolution-cross-pro-12?bct=browse%2fbicycles%2fcyclocross-bikes

Mine was delivered last week. 😀 Love it so far. Pretty light, quick and very comfy.

Another one to consider is the Verenti Substance- considered it myself but wanted something a tad lighter
