I have some AVI footage taken on an ACT20 (HD720P) camera that was taken in low light (dusk) conditions. I'm new to using a head cam and need some help so that I can:
1. Trim the footage.
2. Slow the video down / take a still.
3. Enhance the video generally (e.g. adjust for more clarity)
I've only got Windows Media Player which is pretty useless for doing any of the above.
Anyone know of any (free?)good software that allows easy editing/enhancing?
I need the footage sorted out so that the Police will be able to arrest a Road Rager who assualted me on my commute-ride.
Thanks
windows movie maker (which you should have on your PC) will do most of those things, is very easy to use and free
Sorry to hear that happened. Sadly, if the footage is rubbish, there's no way to enhance it. Increasing overall contrast may help define number plates but that's as good as it gets really.
Try movie maker but if that doesn't work well enough I think my email is in my profile, I'd help you out if you have a way of sending me the footage ๐
It might be hard to enhance the footage much though, if it wasn't captured by the camera then you can't get it back!
If you have it, photoshop has a tutorial for restoring old photos, works equaly well for making grainy night time shots 100x better.
Cheers for the replies.
Our PC is my partners old one (6yrs old, windows XP) with very little stuff on it. I'll have a look on the old CD roms to see if Movie Maker is there.
I have been able to get a little enhancement using Windows Media Player, but it does'nt allow saving the changes...
movie maker should already be on a windows xp pc. have a look in the
c:\Program Files\Movie Maker
folder - its called moviemk.exe
Aha yes, found it - never knew it was there! I'll get to work on the footage for the cops....
Virtualdub is free, and will also do the basic editing/enhancing you want.
Cheers - I 'll check that out too.
BTW I was recommended off this Board to the excellent Techmoan.com website - a brilliant head camera / gadget review site - it's far better than that tacky channel 5 show - this guy should have a show of his own...
