I've got a pair of very comfy Pearl Izumi (Slice, I think) and some Assos ones (their 'cheaper' model). Both nice.

Think Cycling Plus have a bib-short review this month, IIRC the Assos and Cannondale LE Carbon came out favourably, though both about £115. Money well spend in my book!!!

I got some 3/4 length MT500 bibs to replace my full length MT500 longs. I find the bibs quite sweaty compared to the older longs, and certainly sweatier than my specialized or assos shorts.

Very nice otherwise.

Gore Ozon bib shorts are excellent, mt500 shorts are quite warm as the lycra is thick - might be too hot under baggies.

I'm v keen on Endura shorts - I still have a pair of Humvees that I bought 4 years ago and have worn all the time; the missus bought me recently some Humvee Singletrack shorts, and if anything they're even better, with waterproof/resistant fabric, tough lycra panels to ensure stretchiness round the chunkiest of cheeks and so on. Unfortunately I haven't tried MT500s, though, so can't comment on them.
One thing about Endura's is to check the size - the Humvees come up baggy (large is reasonably loose on me, and hangs over the knee), while Singletracks are more fitted (large is just big enough, much closer fitting on the thigh and finishes above the knee). I'm 6', for the record, and not averse to showing a bit of knee from time to time.... 😉

If you're wearing them under baggies why not try the Endura FS260 Pro bibshort, more breathable and seems to be the same insert.

I've had 3 pairs of MT500 shorts, and think they're great. Worn one pair out, but two going strong. I use the liners from them - even the oldest like new - in 2 pairs of Endura Singletrack shorts, which I also like, and got cheap at Sleepless.
