Just seen the prototype Cotic eEscapade.

Very disappointed they have gone hub motor. I can see that means less frame fiddling but that's a lot of weight in the back wheel.

It's a test for Reynolds, who are making dropouts for that hub.

4 or 5 different bikes on the “what commuter ebike” thread using that motor. Horses for courses I guess

Seems to be lots of fun at Cotic of late, with this and the Neko Mulally frames

It's a sign of a good reputattion in the indsustry, I guess

I like the look of it, and like the way the battery lives in the frame bag - but I do wish they’d stop coming up with bikes I want to buy!😁

As far as the hub motor goes, I’ve tried an Orbea ‘e-gravel bike’ with hub motor and it was bl***y great.

Will weight even matter? Assuming similar to an Alfine but with the bonus of being a motor. I now have another potential to add to my what commuter list!

Think it'd have a way to go before it went to production. I'd fear for the paintwork with that weight in a frame bag, maybe some sort of fixed mounting for a production version. That said, an removable electic upgrade on the escapade might be a winner for some folks
