Did the route shown below last year (riding it anti-clockwise). The bit in green was REALLY good, the rest I found a bit meh.

Will be back there this next week (based in Rhayader). Any other routes worth doing that could incorporate the two descents I did in the green bit last year but add something more interesting than the tarmac and slogging through faint moorland tracks that was the rest of the ride?

As above go and see Clive Powell at Elan Cyclery. The rides from Rhayader are great if you know the routes. I spent many years riding there and was never tired of the place.
