It's been a while for me but was wondering if anything was happening tonight ?
.
Not me tonight - I am working
i'm working too ๐ i hain't been on one for ages, can't wait til i can!
I think I'm free but not too sure what the Pentlands will be like. It's been pretty wet recently.
What were you thinking Grant? I'll chuck the lights on to charge now just in case.
Hi Steve, let's make a decision around 3/4pm based on any other comments here. I have a rack/car and available to go to GT ? Also happy to do the 6:30 Cargo/7pm Bonaly sticking to the drier bits in Pentlands. Not been out for 6 weeks or so so just happy to do something......talk later
Hmm I think I'll pass, its still raining and it was very wet up there on Saturday. start and end of clubbidean and pistachio are all mudbaths but there are still some solid bits like poets. The hervelos are off to GT again tonight so you'll have some company!
Was up on Saturday too. Expect to get very wet and muddy. If you have transport, GT\Inners would be a better option given the current conditions.
Steve, doesn't sound like Pentlands will be too much fun. Give me a call if you are still up for doing something given the weather, 0781 644 4084 and we'll hook up in town or I'm happy to drive to GT..... otherwise i hope to start to get out more regularly so see you soon.
With the weather the way it's been this avo I think I'd prefer to give it a miss tonight, could do tomorrow night at Glentress if it suits anyone?
Forecast looks bleak tonight but slightly better for tomorrow.
Grant - the missed call you've got will be from me, if you're really keen to get out tonight give me a call back otherwise let me know if tomorrow suits.
Pentlands are a soggy mess at the moment. I was up there on Monday; loads of mud about.
Sounds like you have a regular Wed night ride? I've been getting out over the pentands the last couple of weeks with a few mates, and hope to keep something going over the winter each Wed. Wouldn't mind crashing your party some weeks if I can't muster up any interest from my usual pool of riders. Should I just check the forum....?
rthomas- this used to be very regular - but less so nowadays for some reason.
Keep an eye on here. Sometimes Pentlands or GT / Inners. Just chip in - all are most welcome IME.
I need to break my GT cherry pronto.
Pentlands tomorrow evening?
Someone stole my lights - Payday's Friday.
shan.
Anyone know what the ground's like up there? It was incredibly soaked last week.
I think I'm going to either knock out a couple of fast surfaced laps, or drag the Dare up white hill and see if I've bolted it together right.
Northwind. as in an Ellsworth?
tidy.
Tidy is not the word frankly. Hideous maybe? Disgusting? But it was cheap ๐
I'm game for a ride tomorrow night...whereever it may be, don't give a crap about getting wet or muddy. count me in
Was up briefly on Monday evening, not far in but the ground wasn't bad around Capelaw, surface water on the expected bits (left after Bonaly reservoir) so I guess the bogs will still be bogs. There's some works going on on Puke Hill too, looked like the track is being toughened up to get plant up to the reservoir.
Looks like it'll be a glorious night, not to be missed! (except by me ๐ฅ )
Count me in too. I'll be at Cargo @ 6.30 (unless the plan is to go elsewhere).
There's going to be a group of us meeting at the water of leith visitors centre (opposite the old Tickled trout pub) at 5:30 this evening, if any wants to join.
Went up last week and the ground was boggy but OK, should be a bit better tonight.
cfinnimore
Want to borrow a set of lights? Home brew but good enough.
6.30 at cargo for me -
rthomas17 - bit early for some of us - maybe see you up there
TJ thanks for the offer, i'll see you at Cargo. Hopefully my BB will endure this adventure then in t' shop Friday.
To save you bringing excess weight, what would be the latest I can cancel if this debacle of employment goes on too long?
I would leave my house around 6 pm. Lights on charge now. have you got stock or OS bars?
Sunn OS bars TJ, I'll leave a message before 5:30 to doubly confirm, particuarly once I get a good look at my BB.
Merci pour le helpfulness.
sound
I'll try and come too, would be a shame to miss such a continental warm evening (til about 8pm when it will be brass no doubt!)
Will probably head up the pentlands but looking to go up a bit earlier, 6.15ish at Bonally? anyone make this? otherwise i'll have to work late to pass the time! ๐
Northwind, if you're heading up white hill for a play I could be tempted to join you.
Employment has ruined my life.
No participation tonight.
TandemJeremy- Thanks for the help, I hope to make it up there eventually.
*sobs*
Tj could you explain where 'cargo' is for me and I will try and be there, if I am not there by half 6 then don't wait around for me. I am working and normally finish about half 6 at the cafe but might be able to try to get out earlier!
Will
On the other hand if you want to meet at 7 I will deffo be able to make it by then. And I fyour feeling helpful feel free to bring a small torq key, need to replace the pads on my rear brake if possible.

Lolz
If you miss us at Cargo head along the canal to Bonally (there is a turn-off on to the water of Leith, hard to say where it is if you don't know it but it's just after the long aqueduct that is difficult to pass someone on while still cycling) for 7, we normally wait around there for a bit too. I'll chuck a torx multitool in too, give me an excuse for being off the pace tonight with all that extra weight ๐
Evening everyone, so first off I am shat with names.
Thankyou Jeremy & Niner & Giant for tonights awesome adventure.
Puke hill made me sick. The irony isn't lost, for sure. Thanks for believing in my integrity enough to let me piss off back down it high on Powerade vomit & endorphins.
Bloody nora, was like falling into Moby Dicks mouth filled with sparkly little LED's. Full pelt, no lights, Edinvar 45degrees THAT WAY.
Shazam. Got home safe, shaking with the happiness.:D
Thanks to Keiron for getting me through the dell.
I was coming down the hill as you guys were going up! I waved and waved at TJ but he didn't wave back ๐ฅ Fantastic night for it, wish I'd brought the lights and stayed out longer.
Waht hill when / where northwind? didn't see you. That was fun - sorry we broke you cfinnimore - try again next time - you had done all the hard climbing
first time out for weeks on the MTB for me. took a while to get use to it again and first night ride of the year.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat
Aye good fun, glad you had fun getting back Chris! I'd have been ill going up that hill on a singlespeed too!
Made it back solo though clubbidean OK, the fear kept my speed up, came across some people camping, not sure who got the biggest shock...
nice little reminder of summer.
Sorry I missed this one. Needed back early so ended up in GT wishing I'd brought more water. Seriously warm eh?
And who added the tag above?
I finished work at 6:30 in princes street gardens, killed myself cycling home as fast as possible and back to the location you said but only made it there by 7:10 so i missed you.
decided i would go myself and realised just as i was going off road i didn't have my back brake and had to meet you guys to get it sorted! got dead annoyed! nearly went home and cried. Went anyway and i think i can safely say i had a pretty good ride! normally get dead scared on my own int dark but first time i didn't! has personal victory for me. Don't know the trails and didn't have a map (only form memory at looking before i left) so was very sketchy int he dark guessing my way round.
I went along to where you said to meet, then continued on a bit in hope i might catch you, think i must have come off the canal path at sight hill ... ish. then cycled along to currie and up the hill to the car park for pentads visitor centre thingy or whatever it is (near the reservoirs) then went over the hill form there to Glencorse Resevoir via Maidens Clough, met two guys up there guy on a black trance and a guy on a new red and white enduro. then went along the side of the reservoir (east) and up the side of the danger area to castle law and followed the red gravel track right along the side of the ranges, then up Allermuir (just wanted to see the view over edinburgh at night) then down to swans ton not the best descent but i was well hungry by then as didn't have anything before heading out! sooo full and tired now!
Will catch you next time!!!
What a great night ride, puke hill actually lived up to it's name (glad you got home ok Chris), first night ride of the season for me, Paul remembered me from uni (must have been the one class I actually went to!), and I minced around like a lump of mince in the dark (lights need adjusted so they point forwards not down...). Great night ride!!!
Shattered now but already looking forward to next week - if we get weather like that again!
TandemJeremy - MemberWaht hill when / where northwind? didn't see you.
I was being one of them motorists at the time, just going down from the bonaly shop. I did consider trying to mow you down just to test that defensive riding ๐
