Can anyone recommend a good Pentlands GPX route that takes in good descents and is around 20 miles. Looking to start just off the city bye-pass if possible. I've had a look at the one below on the MTB trails page but it seems to take in a fair bit of roads from the commentary. I'm looking for some epic hill top scenery and fast descents if possible.

Thanks

Though for me, for views (over the city) and off the brakes high speed decent, Allemuir is the best of the lot and not actually on that map.
Check out the following Strava rides and segments.

Allemuir Descent, right at the end of the ride- https://www.strava.com/activities/934255797

Off Allemuir then along the ridge to Caerketton hill, dropping into Hillend- https://www.strava.com/activities/574097549

that google map one is limited. Scotroutes made a map, which you can download and then convert to gpx format. See his website

Way out of the Pentlands loop but as above see scotroutes. Nice bits would include Harbour Hill from and down of various directions, further over towards Nine Mile Burn and Monks Rigg, and stuff nearer Dreghorn like Camouflage Path and the pump station.

I've got a few - that route would be OK if you went the other way up the Bore Stane through North esk, matchstick rd then along the 4wd to Bavelaw castle and back round Black hill

Thanks. Does anyone have any Strava or GPX files I could download and use to tour around that start close to the bye-pass?

Did this yesterday. Further than 20 miles but you could do just one of the wee-er loops in it.
