Always fancied the one with the blue flames on, but ended up with a red one from eBay a couple of years ago - frame only - sadly no flames!
I still fancy building it up as a wee retro project - anyone ever ridden one??
only a bounce on one at a race a good few years ago, like the idea of a tough SS-able full sus but didn't like the geometry so much.
A mate of mine had the XC version of it that was ok to ride. Always seemed strange to use all those linkages to give an axle path that is effectively a single pivot around the bb.
i bought one, it was ace!
long chainstays (470mm) gave it loads of front wheel grip, but meant it was hard to manual, the BB was quite high by modern standards but i never found it a problem...
i even ran it as a single-speed! cos of the near-zero chain growth VPP around the BB thing.
(you have to set the chain quite slack to do this, but it works - take the shock out first to check the chain doesn't get too tight)
yes, it may imitate a single-pivot, but using a four-bar to achieve this gave a nice rising-rate on the shock, and because the rear sub-frame moves up and down, rather than rotating around a pivot, it still worked well with the back brake on.
it's not unlike a DW link sunday/7-point, only it predated it by about 4 years...
ahwiles - that was the answer I was looking for ๐ Could be an interesting bike to ride then.
Can you rememember much about the build? I have a pair of Manitou Shermans 152mm which I reckon will do for the front end - don't suppose I need to get too retro with the rest of it.......
Anyone else ridden one of these machines???
I owned a freeride one for a while found it pedaled well and was stiff, suspension action was good and it was pretty reliable, but it was quite heavy and very long wheelbase which made it stable but hard to turn left to right quickly and you really had to pull up on drop offs
