Ebike motor servicing- Yamaha especially

The motor on MrsA's bike (Giant Liv Embolden plus) is sounding well rough. It's from 2021 and has never had any mechanical work done on it although it did have a new wiring loom early on.

It's out of warranty so no need to have it serviced by Giant so I'm happy to use a decent after market service centre. Does any one have any real world experiences? Good and bad are equally welcome, places worth using and places to possibly not use.

I assume that I drop out the motor and post it away.

Many thanks in advance, Ambrose

I could be wrong here but I'm sure I've read something about Giant ebike motors having to be serviced by authorised dealers due to the proprietary software used

We use https://www.ebikemotorcentre.com/ at work for any motor servicing. Always do a good job and are well priced and very knowledgeable.

The do mechanical work on Giant Yamaha motors so bearings gears etc but cannot supply the circuit boards as they are giant specific

Not used them for Yamaha, but they were excellent with my Wife's Bosch. Not  a euphemism...

I read somewhere, that Yamaha were one of the only motors that you can get manuals for, and spares etc...as an end user....

not sure how true...

Another one here to recomend the E bike motor centre aka Performance bearings

Sent them my Brose motor for a service after 5 years of all weather use, new bearings fitted, new and better sealing of the motor and returned to me for £280, you can also buy the parts from them and fit yourself

Where are you ?
Electric Bike Clinic in Stirling can help if you're in Central Scotland.

Bosch approved, and sorted my Shimano motor happily enough.
