How do ecentric BB's work, they obviously fit in to a lrger than normal bottom bracket tube, I understand they are adjustable to take up slack on a SS setup - so the question is, how do you rotate the BB within the BB shell, it cant be just turn it until the chain is tight, what then holds it in place ??
Confused and NOT a SS'er (yet ) :o)

Generally either a couple of pinch bolts in the bottom of the bb shell or some kind of expanding wedge thingy.

That's exactly how it works.it cant be just turn it until the chain is tight,
They're held in place by either pinchbolts, set screws or expanding wedges.
