I received some bars I bought on ebay last week, and had to pay at the PO for the pleasure of receiving them as there was no postage on the package 😡
I emailed the seller and explained the problem, and they say that they did put postage on the package, and it is therefore my problem. I obviously have no way of claiming back the postage with the PO as I have no proof of postage, and the seller is being unhelpful.
Do you think it's worth an ebay dispute? Or just man up and wave bye-bye to my £6 - it's not the amount really, more the principle!
I guess it was a small package cable of being posted in a letterbox?
If not, I can't see how the sender could avoid payment and it would likely be a PO error
No, it was handlebars - I'm guessing the label got ripped off during postage.
All I'm wondering is should it be up to the seller to claim it back from the PO (and refund me) or do I have to try and go through the kerfuffle of trying to get money from the PO?
vendor's responsibility to have goods delivered to you.
ask him for the copy of the receipt he undoubtedly has, for proof of postage.
if he doesn't have that, how can he prove he ever sent the item? if he didn't send it, presumably you're entitled to a refund... 😈
and the seller is being unhelpful
Grounds for a dispute IMO
There's no reason for him to be unhelpful
Defo a dispute, simply for being unhelpful.
Dispute as you paid for postage twice - how is this anything other than a problem?
you asked them first they are not being helpful so dispute for sure.
is there any evidence on the packaging that there was ever a postage label? Sounds a bit suspect that a label has fallen off as those packet labels don't just peel off
I am guessing you have a receipt for the postage you just paid?
If so then file a dispute for the amount.
Cheers for the replies.
Having scoured the package there is just visible the edge of the package label, so it must have been torn off in transit. So the PO is at fault, but as you all point out that shouldn't be my problem.
I'll email him once more to ask for a refund of the amount before filing a dispute - as he should have the original proof of postage, he should be able to claim it back with a photo/scan of my receipt.
........and Del - you're a bad, bad man! Hope the shoulder's feeling better? T
