To cut down for waterproof shorts. You know, like these
Anyone got these, or another seller they'd suggest ?
site says order 1 size bigger than expected, as they're overtrousers. I won't be using like that, so thinking I only need the correct size. That right ?
Or, to put it better, how do sizes come up in real terms ?, ie if I'm a 36 waist will 36 be a decent fit (I see there's a drawstring waist so hopefully can tighten if a bit loose, but too tight would be a bugger)
How long before the arse falls out of 'em (on max 4hrs a week on the bike) ?
TIA
Scaredy - I bought some that had been recommended on here but think it was a different seller (Denbigh Army Supplies?). Presumably you will be wearing lycra underneath them, as opposed to baggies?
Mine have a drawstring waist but cos they are men's, they really are just the wrong cut.
FWIW I have the GoreBikeWear Alp shorts and trousers, fortunately both ladies specific, and am very pleased with them.
But the Army ones are good value and there's no reason why they should fall apart.
Thanks CG - cut doesn't bother me much, as long as waist is OK I reckon the rest'll be fine. It's only for winter mud-rides & there's a fairly low maximum level of comfort on those already. Suspect they'll also be at least as good as my cut-down "cagoule-stlye" current offerings, that are ripped beyond repair
Presumably you will be wearing lycra underneath them
you chatting me up ? 😳
I found with my pair they were too low cut at the back when sat on the bike for any period of time. They also needed altering as despite being the correct waist they were far too baggy to wear over lycra. It was only a 2 min job on the sewing machine though.
Not bad for the money but very much prefer my Altura one's which were about £45 iirc. Just a lot more comfortable for longer days out.
We have had the gortex for the last 4 years and have had no problems, Katie ripped hers in Verbier gaffa taped them up and are now as good as new
Tracey
Anthony, Tracey did the waist sizing come up about as expected ?
I got something like these from this seller. Cut them down but retained the bib bit and part of the leg zips. I'm a 34" waist and had to cinch them in a bit.
Yes
thanks
bought some like johnny panic linked in the end
wasn't just the lesser likelihood of them riding down at the back; more to do with the lederhosen special finish !
